"I am privy to certain info... but I can't post it".
I have noticed that at times someone will post a comment like "I have information about (whatever the subject being discussed is) but cannot post it due to (whatever reason). Or "I know this is true, but can't post details because..."
While I agree that sometimes it is not wise to post certain things at certain times due to privacy (or whatever) reasons, personally, I would rather the poster not even mention something at all if they cannot also post details.
Not that I necessarily do not believe what is being posted, it's just that having someone make a statement and then leaving you hanging without details is a little frustrating at times.
Does anyone else agree with me or is this my little quirk?

I also agree, but on the other hand when discussions begin to turn to speculation and we end up going too far down the wrong path I think it is sometimes necessary to reign us in. I have seen that most often in situations where there is a civil or criminal case being discussed regarding one of our members. Take Jack for an example. We have gotten some national atttention with that and have gotten some local media involved. If we start discussing incorrect information and make conjectures we could be posioning a potential jury pool by turning on one of our own (If THEY think he did something he MUST be guilty) by speculations and accusations. If one has information that will put those speculations to rest with info that can not be shared without endangering the case they need to post what annoys us all. It drives me nuts too, but I see the need for it.

Twenty-five words or less: Sometimes, just to quell the riot, it is necessary to say that something is being done behind the scenes, but you can't talk about it here.
Okay, so it was twenty-six words, but you get the idea.

It bugs me also, that some posters know some secret hand shake to get privileged info. That's great if they are. But if it is privileged they should keep it to themselves. Hinting that they know something does not add to a topic, but can add to the speculation.

I could not agree more, in fact I may have never agreed more with anything ever posted on this forum. If you have info that no one can know but you, then do us all a favor and just don't say anything. It is not wise to even hint at the fact that you know info that no one can know, it makes you a target and possibly the center of unfounded rumors. Not to mention just plain rude!!!
