Probe of silencers leads to secret program
This one is a strange deal...
http://www.washingtonpost.com/world/...02d_story.html
Seems like "a few rogue agents" contracted with a down on his luck auto mechanic to build silencers for AK-47's..... which might have been intended for clandestine ops.

Re: Probe of silencers leads to secret program
The destroyed weapons were part of a stockpile of about 1,600 AK-47-style rifles that the U.S. military had collected overseas and stored in a warehouse in Pennsylvania, according to a source familiar with the investigation.
If the foreign-made weapons were equipped with unmarked silencers, the source said, the weapons could have been used by U.S. or foreign forces for special operations in other countries without any risk that they would be traced back to the United States.
A different source, a current senior Navy official, confirmed that an arsenal of AK-47-style rifles in a warehouse in Mechanicsburg, Pa., had been destroyed within the past year. But that official suggested the issue was a smokescreen, saying the weapons were being kept for a different purpose and that no program had existed to equip them with silencers.
That depot is pretty hush hush & they keep a tight lock down. Everything boarded up and panted black..."Cives Arma Ferant"

Yet more evidence that the government has too much money and too much power.

Re: Probe of silencers leads to secret program
349 silencers, for the price of $1.6mill. That's $4,584 a pop. To the brother of the department's head.
All documentation on the purchase was either burned by the Pentagon, or redacted on national security grounds. The 1,600 AKs were destroyed, presumably along with the actual silencers.
And people think I'm being reactionary when I say "f&$# the gov".

Hmmm, Naval Support Activity in Mechanicsburg?
That place is nothing but warehouses.

Re: Probe of silencers leads to secret program
And "who" actually destroyed those rifles??? Any real news reports about when it happened, and who did it? If they shredded/burned the documents, then how does anyone really know where the rifles and silencers are?
Or, were they "transferred" to a "company" who destroyed them? What's the name of the company? An address? Too many holes in the story. How about some news reporter posting an actual picture of the destroyed rifles? They love to show pictures of gun buy-backs, so how about this?
Reminds me of the little news story several months back about the hidden arms depot in Texas that the CIA was using to store weapons for middle east groups. But that news story got buried in the background noise.......http://www.businessinsider.com/secre...n-texas-2014-5
Sorta all fits in with that government contract for several thousand AK-47 magazines. https://www.fbo.gov/index?s=opportun...0cdc5b4836dde5. Like, 500,000+ magazines!
Conspiracy theories? Naw, nowadays that tinfoil hat is a superconductor BS detector!

Sounds like the beginning of a fast and furious (.gov) sequel.
