Default Right to bear arms, not just guns

Last night I was talking to my friend who is about to be a lawyer. He has 1 year left at duquense. Some of you may know him. Amazing guy. Total gun nut, always brags about his Mark 23 and we talk guns all the time, he is also an extremely talented and impressive magicians. hangs around big bucks sports shop a lot... Joe.

Well we were talking about weapons that were illegal to carry in PA such as brass knuckles, spring assisted knives, and a whole lot of other things. He told me that you could actually win in court if you ever got caught with them because in the 2nd amendment it states we have the right to bear arms which shall not be infringed. Those arms do not only mean firearms. They mean any arms we can use for defense, which can be brass knuckles, knives ect ect. So the bans against those items are unconstitutional. Anyone ever discuss things like this before? What do yall think?

What did your chicken say when you asked him his opinion?
Rules are written in the stone,
Break the rules and you get no bones,
all you get is ridicule, laughter,
and a trip to the house of pain.

Don't take his advice as legal advice. IANAL, but laws regarding non-firearms stuff (like knives, stun guns, nunchaku, etc.) vary state by state, and there are many people who've had their lives screwed up (and lost in court) for having 'arms' that were prohibited.

Using your friend's line of reasoning, since the 2nd Amendment protects the right to keep and bear arms, then a NJ resident would actually win in court if they decided to leave their home wearing a .44 magnum openly. Of course this would never work.

A little tough to CC, but every bit as effective, (i.e., 'walking tall'). And you can always say you're "going to or coming from a softball game"...

I don't play softball. My free time is spent shooting guns and interacting with all the knuckleheads on PAFOA...

Even worse, since even municipalities can regulate it.

Mr. About to be a lawyer needs to stay in school a bit longer.

Offensive weapons are not "arms", your friend is incorrect and I shall refrain from calling him what I am actually thinking of him and his opinion.
