Question Is there a way to change ALL Windows 7 windows from the default bright white?

I guess what I'm asking for is an EASY way to do this.

Tried messing with themes and WindowBlinds a little which offer color choices for some Windows elements...but it takes a lot of fooling with and then it sometimes changes elements other than color.

I do not want to see the bright white background on any window.

One of the WindowBlinds themes changed some of the windows, but not all, to a gray, which was great. But it had strange buttons as part of the theme.

    Any help?

    Should be under personalization

That will allow some color changes, but not all... from what I can see.

Glad I abandoned the Microsoft ship. Hooray for Ubuntu!

    Sorry, I know, not helpful.

I don't have my Windows 7 machine at home, but you can't do it the way it used to be done in 95/98/me/2000/xp? in the Appearance tab of the Display Settings dialog box, under Advanced?

Personalization -> Window Color -> Advanced Appearance Settings...

Unfortunately as you've probably found, this only works in applications that obey the Windows setting instead of using their own. As an example when I changed it just now the address bar in Firefox changed, but the text window I'm typing in now to enter this post stayed the same.
