Broke My Laptop

My screen on my laptop got broke yesterday GRRRRRRR ! Its only 6 months old. I called HP to see about replacing it and they want $430 ! The computer was only $600. Does anyone know how hard it is to replace them? I found a new screen on ebay for $139. Figured I might be able to do it myself.

never replaced 1 myself...probably the only thing I've never repaired on a laptop.

google around videos on how to replace laptop screens. I'M SURE you'll find something.

Warranties typically cover manufacturing defects, not "Oh shit, I broke it." Many companies offer additional coverage for accidents, though some don't offer this if you buy a refurbished machine rather than a new one.

My LCD screen on my Dell developed a bunch of colorful lines on the screen right before the warranty ended. I sent it in for replacement and 3 months after it was replaced, they came back full force. Bought a new laptop the next day

I build all my own desktops and do all the troubleshooting, however never have tried to do any laptop work. Good luck

It counts, it just won't affect his rep power until 50 posts. At post 50, it's completely possible to jump to a rep power of 10, or even 100....all based upon the amount of rep received during that early period.

They are a couple of good sites, lots of info. I found them for the very same reason, my daughter hosed her laptop up good, broken screen and keyboard. Still haven't decided if I want to fix it yet. That's one of the problems, it's sometimes cheaper just to replace the whole damn thing, you get into the "might as well's" since I got it open, and you end up spending more than its worth, unless it's a high end one of course.
