    Default CA94 mp5 clone 9mm ammo question

I have a CA94 mp5 clone in 9mm Luger. It shoots Federal "American Eagle" FMJ 115 gr. 9mm all day long. It also shoots Federal 9MM 115 Grain FMJ "Independence" rather well.

My questions are the following (in trying to save money and figure out what ammo performs best in this type of rifle):

What grain loads shoot best in this rifle?

    Will Wolf 9mm be ok?

    Thanks for your help!

You won't know until you try...the Wolf 115gr I shoot is pretty close when talking POI out of my pistols when compared to the American Eagle. Every gun is different though...

If you've never shot steel case before...the better question will be whether you have any extraction/feed issues or if the gun like the new Wolf vs. the old laquer Wolf. Go with a box of 50 before you sink cash on a case of 1000! Good luck...

Do you have any failure to extract/eject problems?
Because a lot of the Coharie firearms do.
I ordered a CA89K, and have not gotten it yet, but forum member FireGS has one, and he has extraction/ejection problems.

I have been on the HKPRO forum, and everyone says the same thing.
You have to replace some internals with factory HK parts.

I also heard that the guns hate Winchester White Box.
Don't know why, but they do.

Yeah, the steel casing on the Wolf is a major concern. The chamber is fluted and I don't know if the steel casings will damage it and/or casuse a FTE. The rifle manufacturer said that using the cheaper ammo (WWB, Blazer, etc.) will void the warranty of the rifle. I used some Fiocchi (blue stripped box - don't recall the grain) and it was nothing but back to back FTE's!!! The ammo wasn't cheap either ($20). anyway, I'd like to maximize performance and reduce cost, so Wolf came to mind.

    Thanks for the info!

My Coharie CA94 came with 2 of their mags. They work fine. Out of the box, I used Federal "American Eagle" and "Indepence" 115 gr. I had several failure to extracts (maybe 5-10) within the first 150 rounds. After "breaking in" the rifle, and running another 200 + rds. through it, I only had a couple of FTE's. I used all Federal 115 gr. ammo.

However, with the Fiocchi (blue stripped box) almost EVERY SINGLE ROUND resulted in a FTE!!! So, I used the rest of that in some Glock pistols, which worked fine.

As far as replacement parts go, I've only replaced the extractor spring with an HK original 9mm spring (brass). I cost around $8 and was easy to replace.

I LOVE the rifle. It's fun to shoot and the ammo is generally cheaper than the .223 for my POF p415. I hope you like your CA89K!

I have a CA89, and as Ronnie said, I had all kinda of problems.

I had NO problems with Wolf 9mm, even when the problems were happening.

Coharie said that NATO 9mm and +P 9mm is the best, but its all relative.

    Fire GS,
So, the Wolf 9mm caused no problems? That's great. I need some cheap plinking ammo. What was the best overall 9mm ammo (cheapest and what grain?) for your CA89?

    Thanks,
    John.

    p.s.

What parts (if any) did you replace on your CA89?

Well, I have yet to put anything else through it, but Wolf seemed good, Brown Bear is OKAY, and S&B 115gr isnt bad either. Those are the only rounds I've put through it.

I replaced the Hammer spring with a 9mm spring, it had a .308 hammer spring in it (???????), the extractor, and extractor spring. I also replaced the cocking tube support for personal reasons.
