    Default Heading to court

Actually not going for anything I did though. My girlfriend is testifying at the Lehigh County courthouse on Nov. 18. I will be checking my handgun once I get there, and I won't take no for an answer. I printed this out...http://reference.pafoa.org/statutes/...ourt-facility/...so I will be prepared if I get any kind of attitude from the deputies. I even highlighted section E, so there will be no confusion to what part of the statute I'm talking about. I'm hoping I have no trouble though. I will let you all know how it went the evening after.

Dude, don't start a thread with that title in the OC/CC section!

I was thinking, "Oh, crap! Now what?!?"

I hope all goes well for you and your girl...

It seems they won't like it, but will, apparently, follow the law

Citizens with a current license to carry a firearm are encouraged not to bring the firearm to the courthouse. If the firearm is brought along, it will be secured by the deputies at the entrance, stored in the Sheriff's office, and returned to the owner upon leaving the building.

Encouraging citizens not to exercise their rights. Lovely.

Yeah, that's Sheriff Rossi for you. I'm not going to stop exercising my right just because he "encourages" me not to.

Well, I'm happy to report I had absolutely no problems. The courthouse now has their new entrance set up. After we entered, I told the deputy at the metal detector I had a firearm to check. He pointed towards the new receptionist desk and said, "Talk to the deputy at the desk. She'll be happy to do that for you."

I went up to her and told her what I needed, and she whipped out her receipt book. She asked me my name and type of firearm. She wrote that info and which box my gun was in on the receipt. Since I was CCing when I entered (wearing a suit), she asked to see my LTCF. Now I know I may get grief for showing her my license, but I did anyway. She locked it up, told me to have a good day and check back with her when I left. We were there about two hours. I went back to the desk and presented my receipt. She had me sign when I checked it in, then had me sign when I got it back. She was a pleasant woman and made the whole process very easy. All in all, a good experience...I guess the deputies are learning the laws.
