Opinion On Stack-On Safe
Scenario: Our eldest son, now a 22yo USAF SrA is stationed CONUS and moving off-base into his first apartment. He's coming home this spring and will be bringing a few firearms back with him. He's shopping around for a safe to hold his very modest collection.
My Recommendations to him: A Stack-On sheetmetal cabinet that he can bolt into the wall studs in his closet.
Or I found this deal on Slickguns.com, anyone have experience with it? It only weighs 125lbs, so it'll be easy to move if/when it comes time to PCS.

I also found this link to give him some more ideas: http://gunsafereviewsguy.com/article...ect-your-guns/
Any other ideas within a SrA's budget in an apartment would be greatly appreciated.

I can't find much fault with it, in the terms your thinking.

Re: Opinion On Stack-On Safe
I have one. It'll keep guns safe from kids and unprepared thiefs. A crow bar is all that's needed to jack it open.

If he's just looking to keep honest people honest, or keep kids from gaining easy access, go with the cheap cabinet. Keep in mind though, they're easily opened by someone with a little bit of time and a couple tools. The safe linked seems to have decent reviews on the couple places I checked quickly. It's probably a bit better. It took checking a couple spots, but I finally found one that listed construction as 13 gauge steel. Keep in mind, it offers no fire protection.

Not a safe , but a tin box with a lock on it. Good for keeping kids out , make sure you hide the keys.

Re: Opinion On Stack-On Safe
I have the Stack-On 22 convertible one and it works fine for my needs. No matter what kind of safe you have, if your not home and a thief has enough time he is going to get into it.

Re: Opinion On Stack-On Safe
My motto is buy the reasonably cheapest safe you can afford to deter theft and unwanted access, BUT also make sure you're insured. Renters policies usually cover up to a certain amount for firearms. If its only a modest collection he should probably fall within the range of most polices but check with insurance agent to make sure. The only time I would spend big money on a fire protected safe is if I had something that was very valuable and irreplaceable.
