Background check in Research status for 10 days.
I have been convicted of theft by unlawful taking. I was initially charged with a bunch of things but plead it to just TBUT (theft by unlawful taking) which is a misdemeanor and did 1 year of probation. Will this charge disqualify me? Is this why I'm in research status? Any insight or experience with this would be greatly appreciated.

It's just right on the line as if it disqualifies me or not.

Penna Crimes Code. Second-degree misdemeanor penalty. Up to two years' incarceration and no more than $5,000 in fines.
You could have received 2 years, therefor you are a prohibited person from what I find.

The instructions from the 4473 agree with you. (this is the new version)
Question 11.b. - 12. Generally, 18 U.S.C. 922(g) prohibits the shipment, transporta- tion, receipt, or possession in or affecting interstate commerce of a firearm by one who: has been convicted of a felony in any Federal, State or local court, or any other crime, punishable by imprisonment for a term exceeding one year (this does not include State misdemeanors punishable by imprisonment of two years or less);

So just to be clear, it doesn't matter what I was charged with just convicted of right?
