Carry safety question
Is a semi-auto, in the de-cocked state with safety off, as safe to carry as say.... a revolver or a double action only semi? Just can't seem to get comfortable with it.

Re: Carry safety question
Yah all modern Guns including the Beretta px4 has a fpb, perfectly safe, but remember that the best safety is the one between your ears, and always follow the 4 Golden Rules as outlayed by the Colonel.

Re: Carry safety question
I think it is safe to say it will not fire. However, I do not think it is very safe to carry a pistol and not have a round in the chamber.
"Just can't seem to get comfortable with it." - I don't think you should carry it then

Re: Carry safety question
Safe enough as in the thing is not going to just go off by itself. Modern firearms will only discharge when the trigger is pulled. Safety devices are in place to prevent any kind of force from smashing the hammer down without the trigger being pulled, so say for example something brushes against it, pulling it back and allowing it to drop....it won't go bang. Get yourself a good holster that does not allow any form of trigger access and you should be good to go.
Contrary to what some will tell you, it is okay to not be comfortable at first. Honestly, if you are like me and you grew up with strict firearm safety routines, then carrying a loaded weapon on your body goes against a lifetime of teachings. The best way to get comfortable is carry as often as you possibly can. You did not mention whether or not you are currently carrying with a round in the chamber. If you are not, I suggest taking note every day as to whether or not your pistol "went off" in your holster. After a while you will come to realize that it is quite safe while holstered.
The second best way is to come on here and ask questions.

Re: Carry safety question
The short answer is "yes".
The Sig P series don't even have safeties, so they are always carried in that manner. If all of the police and military units that have used Sigs don't feel this is unsafe, neither should you.
Unload the gun and de-cock it. Holster and un-holster a bunch of times and see if you can even come close to making the gun "go off" by grabbing it wrong (with finger on the trigger) while doing so. I suspect that you cannot without trying really hard (9lb trigger in DA). Now pour yourself a beer and be confident that you won't shoot yourself in the leg.
P.S. Also keeping your finger off the trigger prevents this as well.Stay frosty....
