    Default I was awarded a 1911 for OC'ing !!!

So I took time off of work yesterday to go to the dentist.

My wifey and I both had appointments. I OC'd.

Afterwards...we grabbed a bite to eat at the Burger King in Mt. Pocono - And since I'm a keen coin-watcher-outer-for.....I noticed my prize in my change:

I was totally consumed by the coin! My wife thinks I'm nuts cuz I held that penny the entire meal.

    97 years old.

    Wow.

    Where had this coin been?

WWI? The Great Depression? WWII? A glass jar for years?

This penny...along with just a few other small coins, could have fed a very hungry family.

How many penny candies had it purchased? How many Cokes?

Did it sit in an attic for 95 years only to be recently flushed out of hiding?

I would LOVE to know its history!

I forgot about it until this evening when the wife asked me if I looked the value up on the internet.

Though the book value of the coin is less than $1.00, I value it for much more.

I'd like to thank this simple wheat penny for humbling me. It's good to be humbled every once in a while.

I used to be an avid coin collector as well as old paper money. I'll still hold onto any old pennies or silver I might happen upon.

As far as the money's history, have you ever been to http://www.wheresgeorge.com/? It's pretty cool.

you can tell by looking at it, that it's been ''hiding'' for a good many of those years.
