    Default BEST LEO STOP YET!!!!

While heading to Indiana tonight I blew past a State Trooper in an unmarked car. Never noticed him crusing along in the other lane. He followed me, doing around 75 - 80 and finally hit the lights and pulled me over.

He walked up and asked for the usual. As I was pulling my Drivers License out of my wallet. I looked up and said, "Just so you know, I have a pistol on my hip." He nodded and never another word was said about it. Yes, you read that right. The only thing that he did, was take half a step back to re-position himself.

I think one reason may have been that I keep my State Correctional ID card right next to my Drivers License. So, as I present my Drivers License, he can clearly see the State ID too. (Yes, I take advantage of my position when I can)

Anyway, I got a warning, and he never once asked about the pistol or a LTCF. Now that is how a LEO should handle the situation. I was impressed.

I wouldn't have said anything to him unless he asked specifically, but good story nonetheless.

If it's not concealed it might not be a bad thng to mention. Otherwise i'm with ya.

Glad it worked out for ya. One time my G/F was going like 85 on I79 throught the work zone. This car was on her ass the whole time and when he finally pulled beside her it was a state trooper. She took her foot off the gas and as he went by he hit his alley lights lighing up the 45mph speed limit sign as he drove on by.

I tend to get pulled over and given long lectures about my 5-10MPH over 'crimes'. I wish I had it as easy as some of you.

You should just get one of those stickers for on your cars. My husband had one from when he was a sgt at Camp Hill. They usually never even walked all the way up to the window before they waved him on. you just got the standard courtesy that they give COs.

As for the pistol...I agree that i wouldn't have ever mentioned it unless he'd have asked or would have had you get out of the car.

Hope no one from the DOC is watching..

Which SCI are you in? I have 3 more weeks at the academy then off to Frackville.
I think the founding fathers meant exactly what they wrote: the government should not make any laws restricting the RIGHT of the people to 'hold or retain in one's possession' and 'hold or carry' guns and other weapons that would allow them to keep their government in line.

If it's not concealed, who's fault is it that the officer is so inattentive as to miss the obvious gun?

Having been an LEO. I have no problem letting them know that I am carrying. I consider it a professional courtesy. It is my option and I understand that, and after some thought, I have decided that I will extend that courtesy to any LEO that stops me.

It is all in the Technique. My prison ID just happens to be in the flap that covers my drivers license. Sooooo, when I flip it over to get to my drivers license, it just so happens that you are looking at my State ID while I get my other card out. I'm not flashing it to get out of anything. It just happens to be there if they decide to look at it. No violation of the little blue book there.
