Default Handgun inheritance question. C&R related

My Uncle... well great uncle? My mothers, mothers, brother.... or simpler.... My grandmothers brother on my mother side.... now that everyone is confused.... has a few handguns that have been in the family forever, some since the 1910's. He is 80 years old and originally planned on leaving them to my mothers brother in his will. The other day he informed me he would like to leave them with me instead as I will take better care of them and no one else he trusts has shown any interest in firearm ownership. I know the rules regarding transfer on any normal day and I wouldn't have any problems doing this at an FFL but......

I have my C&R license. I'm still very new to C&R and I understand the transfers between FFL and FFL but am unsure of the rules as far as non FFL to C&R regarding handguns. All of the handguns involved are well over 50 years old. Would he be able to just give them to me so long as I enter them in my book as C&R or would they have to come from another FFL?

    Thanks,

    Anthony

    Provided the info you posted:

    YES. Definitively.

You are exempt from 01FFL involvement (for C&R firearms) per both Fed and Pa. law, regardless the source.
    Log them in and enjoy

PS: If you (or he) need citations let me know and I'll pull them. Just don't have time right this minute.
