The issue of recognizing and appreciating satire came up elsewhere, and while I understand that it is substantially a subjective matter, I think that there are points beyond which that even the most enervated understand that one does not proceed.

Observe this episode of "Family Guy" from 17:20 to 17:30 and tell me just where the bounds of satire lie:

Splitting hairs about the nature and the drive of satire in its defense, which you will observe, if you watch through to the end of this episode, is intellectual cowardice in the extreme. Cloaking aggression with passivity and then grinning weakly about it is BS, and it's a tactic used against us that I've seen defended here, much to my consternation.
