Thursday, April 16, 2009
By Jerome L. Sherman, Pittsburgh Post-Gazette
Three Carnegie Mellon students were robbed at gunpoint in two separate incidents early yesterday in Oakland, police said.
The first robbery took place around 12:15 a.m. near Central Catholic High School's parking lot. The second incident occurred 30 minutes later at the corner of Fifth Avenue and South Neville Street.
Police are searching for two suspects. Both are black males between the ages of 17 and 19, about 5 feet 6 inches tall. They were wearing baggy jeans and black hooded sweatshirts.
Both Pittsburgh and Carnegie Mellon police are investigating.

Re: Just Another Reason to Carry in Pittsburgh
There was a bank robbery on the 8th at the national city on 5th & atwood. That is 400 feet from were I work and another fine reason to carry in Pittsburgh. The only time I am in oakland (or anywhere really) and not carrying is when I am at work.

Re: Just Another Reason to Carry in Pittsburgh
I know I felt safer after my boss called to tell me the bank was robbed. There is nothing like knowing there is a criminal around possibly armed and dangerous when you are not permitted to be armed to make you feel nice and fuzzy inside.
