Default PPU380FMJ Prvi Partizan Ammunition 380 ACP 94 Grain FMJ $14.90/50

    Hi all,

I just ordered some hard to find .380 auto from Wideners. Just passing along the info.

I just ordered 8 boxes myself. It looks like it will take a while for the order to process.

What's the deal with 380 ACP? Why is it so darn hard to find?

Not sure why no one has .380 in stock and if you do find them, they are priced too high. For me personally, .380 has been harder to find than 9mm. I'm glad I was able to get an order in. I bought my gf a Ruger LCP and she hasn't really had much practice time bc she was trying to be conservative with the ammo. Now with that order I placed...she should be good for a while.

    --- just a guess here ---

You can pick up a decent 380 for under $300. With the current "run" on gun shops, people are looking at bang for the buck (no pun intended). 380 vs 9mm - close enough. $300 vs $450, I'll take the 380.

    --- again, just a guess ---

I heard that .380 and 9mm are manufactured on the same production lines and that the ammunition producers have stopped producing .380 in order to produce more 9mm.

Fair warning....I have no idea if this is true, it's just what I heard.

When I was at Cabelas, they told me it was that way for them. The only thing I could figure was Ruger LCP and Kel-Tec P3AT sales must be driving a surge in .380 ammo sales.....

That's basically what I herd. The bullet machines are at full capacity and they do not want to shut them down to change over the dies to make 380 bullets.

I could believe that theory since the LCP is very hard to find (without having to grab your ankles). The only place that I've been able to get .380 ammo, up until now, was from John at Seneca Arms. What strikes me as odd is that the price of .380 is more than the cost of a box of 9mm. I guess it is a supply and demand issue...

380 has always been more expensive than 9x19mm. I would go with the S&D theory.
