    Default New Purchase: Kahr MK9

Haven't had time to take the pics and post, but here's one of the purchases I made in Dec at the VF show. A Kahr MK9 for discreet and/or warm weather carry via the front pocket.

A beautiful little shooter with a great trigger out of the box. I was very surprised at how nice the trigger breaks. A front pocket holster is on order, and I'll also be looking at replacing the grips with either the checkered wood grips, or the Crimson Trace laser grips which Kahr claims will be available soon.

Very nice! I seem to remember you were fishing around for a used one some time ago. I hope it proves to be reliable piece in your collection.

I like the fact that it's slim. Congratulations.

It is definitely slim, one of the slimmest 9mm pistols on the market at .9". Very concealable, I have no problem fitting it into the front pocket of most of my jeans. I also liked it because it's a shooter that's made very sturdy; it's even capable of shooting +p and +p+ ammo.

But, definitely not as small as your Rohrbaugh, Rand.

The only downside is that I'm only allowed to load 9mm standard pressure parabellum into my Rohrbaugh. Bummer!

I came across this from John Farnam:
Eric Rohrbaugh, of Rohrbaugh Pistols, examined my copy of the R9 and found it to be within factory specifications and eminently serviceable, after digesting 250 rounds of +P 9mm ammunition, mostly DPX and PowerBall. Although Rohrbaugh doesn't recommend +P ammunition for this pistol, I assured him that was ALL I ever shot in it! I am not concerned about shooting +P ammunition through my R9, not that I ever was! I consider it a very acceptable backup gun.

I would treat it like an old J-Frame that wasn't rated for +P. Bulk of practice done with standard pressure, carry +P.

    ChamberedRound- Nice choice.

Damn, and I just ordered my wooden grips. Of course, as much as I'd like these $300 is a little pricey...
