Default blazer brass 9mm ammo issue?

I bought a used ruger p85 from a local gun shop. I got it for decent prize and the gun was clean. This afternoon i was shooting on a relatives property and out of the first 15 rounds i had about 4 jams. Some were live rounds and some were the spent shells getting jammed. All in all i shot about 50 rounds and each clip had a jam of roughyl 3-4 rounds at least. I got the gun home and cleaned it real well and it didnt seem to have to much gunk in it. I am shooting blazer brass 9mm luger 115 grain rounds. Has anyone had an issue with blazer brass?? My father said he has had issue with it as well in his 9mm. Anyone have any ideas as to what the problem could be? Maybe the spring is weak?

    It's basically all I shoot. I don't think it's the ammo I think it's the gun.

One of our members bought that gun for their mother and it would jam like crazy when she shot it. In anyone elses hand the gun ran flawlessly. She was just limp-wristing it.

OI think that's most likely what's happening here.

I shoot that in .40 in my Glock all the time, no issues at all

better descriptions of the jams may help as well, most feeding problems are magazine related, most ejection problems are springs, or technique

I had a P95 that I bought new and was having the same trouble with, even with +P ammo. Tore it apart, cleaned it good and didn't have a problem with it after that.

Now that you've cleaned it, I'd take it back out and try it again before searching too hard for a problem that may not exist.

"Limp-Wristing" is not a perjorative - it just describes the phenomenon of a shooter new to the sport and new to the semi-auto.

Most semi-autos need a fairly firm (secure) grip so that the recoil of the pistol functions the mechanism correctly. If you are letting the Ruger tip up way too much, or letting it slide in your grip, that is probably the problem.

Try keeping a firmer grip and not a "death-grip", mind you, but a firmer hold that keeps the frame of the pistol from rising too much and keeping your elbow and wrist from flexing so much. Seat the pistol into the palm, against the thumb-web, then close your fingers around it.

Try THAT, before you look to other things for the cause.

Remember, there are only three things involved here: 1-Ammo, 2-Gun, and
3-(of far greater significance) the SHOOTER.

Good luck, enjoy your shooting. Strive for consistency.
