Awesome now lets just get rid of the DEA and all federal drug laws.

Then we can start on the BATFE.

Yeah but the 'state revolt' is gaining steam ... Ca is trying to introduce legislation to completely legalize it, 100% legal to own grow and sell. They are saying (rightly so) that enforcing the laws are bankrupting them

yep, because somehow marijuana that is grown in a single state, prescribed by a doctor in that state to a patient in that state, and is consumed by the patient in that state somehow constitutes "commerce among the several states".

It just blows my mind that the government can tell somebody who is SUFFERING from a disease that they can't use a medicine(marijuana) that eases their pain in increases their quality of life.

Why does that blow your mind? The government ALWAYS thinks they know what's better for you than you do. They know what you should and shouldn't do with your body. They know the drugs from Canada that are 1/10th the price of the ones from within the US won't work even though they are the same exact thing!

Let's face the facts ... there is TOO much money out there to be made by regulating things and outright making them illegal ... what would the poor pharma companies do if people could relieve their pain with something they can grow in their window sill.

Good. The "War on Drugs" is a lie.

+1 for the Federal Government not being able to control intrastate commerce (at least, they shouldn't be able to...).

You're preaching to the choir. The fact that they would put a sick and suffering person in prison for taking a medicine that the government says is illegal, boggles my mind. The ability for the average man to grow and sell marijuana without the government getting a piece of the pie, is the main reason for it's illegality.

This isn't my idea so I can't take credit, but one of the best things I've heard lately was something like the following: You want a real economic stimulus plan? Legalize marijuana and tax it just like alcohol and tobacco. Marijuana prices would immediately plummet (making it affordable for the average joe, while still profitable for the government). Mr. Average Joe wins, state and federal governments win, and Mr. drug dealer loses. The sudden low price and abundant availability makes gang wars on the streets over drug territory nonexistent. Boom. Two of the most prevalent problems in American cities disappear.

Obviously this is just a hypothetical, but put that in your pipe and smoke it.
