Re: mossberg 500 question
Same way you would install it on a normal barrel, just clamp it on.

Re: mossberg 500 question
I may be wrong, but if your concern is sliding the heat shield over the barrel, the breacher should unthread so as not to be in the way during this operation. Then simply reinstall after heat shield is in place.

Re: mossberg 500 question
I have a breacher 500 and the end doesn't unscrew at all on mine, its welded as part of my barrel. Mine came with a heat shield already installed and aside from maybe bending the shield out of shape to put it down on top the barrel, I'm thinking they probably installed mine at the factory before the breacher end was put in place.

Re: mossberg 500 question
If the breacher unscrews it should be easy. If it dosen't, it will be harder.
IMHO - a heat shield is for looks. Even a heat shield will warm up enough to burn you if the gun is shot enough. In reality, most people will never shoot a gun enough to heat it up. hell, most people cant reload a pump gun fast enough to heat one up.
I shoot my guns like I stole them, but I try to keep in mind that they heat up as I shoot them. I really don't need a heat shield to keep me from getting burned....that safety is between the ears.
With no disrespect to anyone here.... people need to worry more about basic shotgun skills, and a lot less about if thier gun will win a fashion contest.
Keep it simple and shoot to win.
