Range question
Will the people who police the range care if I bring my own target stand? I want to be able to shoot at any distance when lots of people are there. The shortest distance at my local range on rt 6 is 25 yards...

Re: Range question
Couple of thoughts on this...
First of all, it will depend on the range, obviously. Best bet is to call ahead and ask.
Also, there might be a reason they don't want target stands closer than 25 yards, especially if the stand is made out of a material that can cause ricochets.

Re: Range question
One range I go to, this is totally more than fine and very common. And at the other range just a couple miles away, it turns into an argument with other people, and a deep discussion about gray areas of rules, and ultimately just puts you in the wrong frame of mind for wanting to go out and enjoy some range time. So, just to illustrate that it really depends on the place.

Re: Range question
Typically (at most ranges) as long as all the rounds will impact the backstop it's acceptable to set up a intermediate target.

Re: Range question
It is 100% against the state game lands range rules to setup any targets other then on the supplied stands. If an officer comes by he will make u take it down.

Re: Range question
+1 (OP - didn't realize you were referring to a State Game lands Range)
Here are the PA State Game Land Range rules: http://www.pacode.com/secure/data/058/chapter135/subchapJtoc.html
(b) Prohibited acts. At a rifle and handgun range located on land under Commission ownership, lease or jurisdiction, except when authorized by the appropriate regional director or a designee, it is unlawful to:
(2) Discharge a firearm, except from an established shooting station on the firing line at a paper target placed on a permanent target backboard.
