Default Holy Blissninny Dysfunction! Whole Foods CEO Comes Out Swingin' Against ObamaCare™

What's an organic arugula-cravin', beret-wearin' blissninny goat fromage-muncher gonna' do? Oh me, oh my!

The Whole Foods Alternative to ObamaCare
Eight things we can do to improve health care without adding to the deficit.

    By JOHN MACKEY

"The problem with socialism is that eventually you run out
    of other people's money."

    —Margaret Thatcher

With a projected $1.8 trillion deficit for 2009, several trillions more in deficits projected over the next decade, and with both Medicare and Social Security entitlement spending about to ratchet up several notches over the next 15 years as Baby Boomers become eligible for both, we are rapidly running out of other people's money. These deficits are simply not sustainable. They are either going to result in unprecedented new taxes and inflation, or they will bankrupt us.

While we clearly need health-care reform, the last thing our country needs is a massive new health-care entitlement that will create hundreds of billions of dollars of new unfunded deficits and move us much closer to a government takeover of our health-care system. Instead, we should be trying to achieve reforms by moving in the opposite direction—toward less government control and more individual empowerment. Here are eight reforms that would greatly lower the cost of health care for everyone:

    More wisdom here!
    Money quote:

Health care is a service that we all need, but just like food and shelter it is best provided through voluntary and mutually beneficial market exchanges. A careful reading of both the Declaration of Independence and the Constitution will not reveal any intrinsic right to health care, food or shelter. That's because there isn't any. This "right" has never existed in America.

It's right next to the part that declares the US a Christian nation. You may have to squint a little.

WTF does this have to do with the OP? Really? Is King pushing for us to be classified as a Christian nation? How about the article he mentions? Did I miss that part?

I will have to find the nearest Whole Foods so that I can start shopping there.

King is not, but many people are, so ask yourself this: would Jesus put his name to any nation that permitted people to go without food, shelter, or some kind of basic health care?

Tort Reform is a BIG part of the answer to this puzzle!!

About 50% of what you pay is money spent to cover the incredible amounts of people suing their doctors with frivolous lawsuits.

Honestly I don't give a flying fuck. And this is a stupid attempt to derail the converstaion. If you are in support of the healthcare bill make your argument on the merits of the bill. Not on some stupid attempt to twist a person's faith around to suit your needs. Who in this thread has advocated classifying the US as a Christian nation?

Uh, Phil, thank you, but if we thread-drift or suffer thread-crapping, I'll be the one to handle it, okay?

Let's get back to the amusing premise of the anti-ObamaCare™ CEO at a chain of stores that attract liberal customers like moths to a flame.

This is what I was struck by. I avoided Whole Foods since I don't like the smell of hippie. I have now recalibrated and decided I need to shop there.

Looks like a trip to Whole foods is in order. He makes far too much sense.
