Starting a Gun Show
Hello Everyone,
My Relay for Life team is looking for a good fund raiser and one of the things I would like to do is have a gun show. As far as I know we don't have a gun show in Elk County and we have a sizable population of firearm owners. I was wondering if anyone had any advice on how to get a gun show started (if there is any paperwork, what posting are required, LEO involvement). I have a nice hall where we can have the event, enough volunteers, and it is for a non-profit group.

Re: Starting a Gun Show
Actually, I would try to get in touch with people that do this for a living (think Mid Atlantic Arms Collectors gun shows in Harrisburg). They may be able to point you in the right direction. Their site is www.maacpsse.com/maac.html

Re: Starting a Gun Show
If you are looking as a gun show as a fundraiser, I would instead go for a gun raffle.
A show with a hundred tables will net you about $3000 @ $30 a table if you can even fill them all.
A good raffle can net you into the 10K+ range if you have the people that are willing to work it.
I do a raffle for a local FD every spring and fall, for the last 10 years they have never netted less than $9500 for a 4 hour raffle.
If you would like any further info on how to do a raffle, PM me.
