Cosmoline removal
Instead of using flammable liquids, try spraying or soaking in a product called, "greased lightning". This stuff is great. Spray or soak in hot water, wait approx. 20 minutes, and use a toothbrush etc. to remove it. The cosmoline turns a yellowish color. O.K. to scrub bores too! leaves no film or residue. After flushing away with hot water. Oil up your metal the usual way. Will not harm wood. Oil your bore. That's it!! No fumes, no mess and, NO EXPLOSIONS!!
