Default Out of spec .22 LR ammo

While shooting Rem Thunderbolt in my Winchester 62a (slide action) yesterday, the action jammed. Taking it apart at home, the round was barely into the carrier (which receives and feeds the round from the mag to the chamber) and was tightly held. Measuring the rim diameter disclosed it to be out of round and .003" wider than the "good ones". I found a few others the same. Pretty wide tolerances apparently

Got to thinking...this out of spec round put me in a precarious situation. In effect, I was driving homeward with a loaded rifle in the vehicle. Interesting, huh?
There are two kinds of guns. Those I have acquired, and those I hope to.

I*ve had issues with thunderbolt and several other budget bulk pack .22 ammo,s over the years. Nothing new here. Do I still have some? Yes. I use it it bolt action guns for the grandkids to burn up. Semi and slide action or lever guns you*re better off with something else. It*s a pita to clear an unfired round out of some guns. Pretty much just use it for blasting purposes as accuracy isn*t all that great either. My go to anymore is strictly cci.

Never had an issue with Thunderbolts. Recently had a problem with multiple 50rnd boxes of Armscor .22lr that came from the same 500rnd box. Never had a problem before with Armscor, but I took some friends to the range and we couldn't get through a single box without a problem from five different 22 rifles and pistols. Guns that have never had a problem.

I've done this a few times. I really never thought about that aspect.

I stay away from Remington 22 LR ammo. I have scene some issues. I stick to Federal/CCI.

I had some russian stuff with a rooster on it. It was awful. Bang, pow, pop, boom, crack. Every shot sounded different. Accuracy was bad and the smell was worse. I got what I paid for.

Winchester SuperX 22 has about a 3 percent fail to fire eaten, even out of the Ruger SP101.
