Default Short Barreled Rifle (Build - 1)

Short Barreled Rifle Build - 1

Just picked up my lowers from my dealer yesterday.
And I just built this today.

    Rock River Arms stripped lower
LWRC M6A2 Gas Piston upper /w 10"5 barrel (Chambered in 5.56)
Rock River Arms lower parts kit with 2-stage match trigger
    Magpul MIAD pistol grip
    Magpul Enhanced Trigger Guard
LMT SOPMOD Stock (I might change it to an Ace SOCOM M4 Stock)
    LMT Rail Guards
    Troy front/rear folding BUIS
LaRue Tactical Quick Detach Vertical Fore Grip
EoTech 512 (I might change it to an Aimpoint)

Fantastic build. That must have set you back a few $'s. I am assuming 1/7 twist barrel?

One minor criticism, i don't like where Howard engraves his info on the side of the mag well. It stands out too much. When i form 1 my ar's, i like getting the engraving either on the front of the mag well or inside the trigger area next to where the trigger comes out of the lower. The trigger area is best when you want to hide it a bit. Plus, i always black my letters out instead of using white or leaving it in the raw. I just like mine a little less noticable.

Anyhow, very nice---now get out and shoot it and report back. I don't have any piston uppers and the shortest barrel length i have is 11.5".

EDIT---also wanted to add, i dont know if i would change out the stock. I have a socom and don't like it all that much. I get a much better cheek weld from my vltor stock. The vltor's are similair to the sopmod stock you have. So, i'd try a socom before you buy one.

    Thanks,
I don't particularly like where he does his engravings either.
If I would have done them myself, I would have had them in an area less noticeable as well. However these are my first NFA items, and I just figured I would let him do them. Next time, I will do them myself.

And I planned on blacking out the letters tomorrow.

Again, i wasn't trying to be too critical. You have a beautiful set up there.

Wow, your first NFA. I'll bet the wait was a killer. I think i was waiting at the mail box every day for my first forms to come back.

Congrats again on your cool build. I'll bet you can't wait to get out and get some trigger time with it. Enjoy.

I didn't take it that way at all.
Yes, the wait was hellish, but I knew it was going to be before hand, thats why I had two lowers done at the same time.
I am looking forward to some range time tomorrow..
And also looking forward to SBR Build - 2......

    Thank you again,

Ronnie, you got it! Welcome to the club. Maybe we can get together one of these days and have some AR fun.

I was thinking about getting a suppressor for mine, but I think I'm gonna grab a USP Tactical and get a can for that first. Then get a shorter upper for my AR maybe. We'll see what the winter brings.

I LIKE IT! Nice set up. I think I like shooting my SBR more than any of my other rifles though I'm betting the LMT I just picked up with become a fav quick!

On a side note that is a horrible place to engrave your info though I understand your desire to not rock the boat on your first shot out the door. I have mine on the right side above the hammer pins. Otherwise I would have gone in the trigger guard or front of the magwell also!

Anyways, wicked good built! Can't wait to see #2!
