Went to buy an AK but got this
I was at Dunhams in Carlisle and was going to purchase a new WASR double stack and found out they all all out across the region. I got a raincheck for the WASR. But something else caught my eye...... a Mosin 91/30. I had a 15.00 coupon and it was 59.99 out the door couldnt beat it. The bolt and the metal are in great shape the stock a little banged up but thats coming off and im trowing a ATI stock on it. Pics will be up soon

Re: Went to buy an AK but got this
What a DEAL!!!!!
A great price for a great rifle.
I want to see the picks when you get the stock on it and are done.
The cheapest I see 91/30s for down here are now closing in on $150.

That stinks! You should have picked one up sometime over the last 15 years when they could be had for under sixty bucks, (if you looked around a bit).

Re: Went to buy an AK but got this
I bought my first 91/30 for $35.00, my second for $49.95
I've sold them both, and a model 44 or two, all sold off.
I've also owned two model 39 finnish models, both of which I turned into gifts for good friends.
I now own a model 38, which I bought at a Hilliard, Ohio gun show back in the late 90's, or early 2000.
I like the 38, as it's a short barrel version without the bayonet, and the one I bought was entirely new/unissued.
I have an ATI stock on it, as well as their scope mount kit, but, I made my own bolt handle and welded it on, as I didn't like the bolt on job ATI sells with the scope kit.
I'm thinking hard about changing the bolt handle again with something a tad easier to grab than the one I made.
They may appear to be crude animals, but they sure are fun to shoot, and have great accuracy, especially the model 39 finnish.
I was just stating that the man got a great deal on a great rifle, and that they are not found that cheap down here anymore.

I like my M39. It is hard to see the things that people do to some of these weapons.

Re: Went to buy an AK but got this
You know I coulda sworn he did pick it up for under $60.
Nice buy, they are great rifles. I recommend looking for matching #'s. other than that look for Tula rollmarks, they are generally the most desired. I have a site that explains all of them pretty well bookmarked on my desktop, I'll post it up if I can find it.Warning: I may not read responses to OP before posting
