Default Obama grants pardon to PA man

"Foster was sentenced to a year of probation and a $20 fine, and he thought the incident was behind him. He served in Vietnam the next year and left the Marine Corps 12 years later to join the Pennsylvania National Guard. He got a job at a plant that manufactures ceilings near his home in Beaver Falls, got married and had a son.
Then, in 2005, he applied for a gun permit and found out for the first time he had a felony conviction. He applied for a presidential pardon, which was officially granted Friday, in the first round of pardons during Obama's administration."

Sigh... Maybe we should reform our laws.. Just maybe.. Unless it is a VIOLENT CRIME, once you served the time ou should be 100% exonerated? At the very least. I keep saying it, and I cannot say it enough, once you've served your time you should bee 100% free. If its a violent crime you should have a very stiff sentence. If its rape or murder or child molestation it should be life in prison. Its very easy.. A DUI should be wipped clean after 3 years. If you're not hurting anyone you shouldn't have to live with it for the rest of your life. Yes that counts "sexual offenders" that pee in public. Sweet lord all of this crap to track someone that sut pennies into a dime.. Rolling my eyes. Yes it should be a crime but you shouldn't have it follw you for years...

IIRC a DUI is wiped clean after 3 years as far as firearms are concerned (my ex had gotten one so I looked into it a while back, i may be wrong)

I'm pretty certain you're correct, as far as firearms are concerned.

A DUI is minimum of a 3rd degree misdemeanor that stays on your permanent record. The points from it expires over the course of 3 years(actually has no point penalty, but your license is revoked/suspended and when you get it back you have 5 points on it). The DUI stays on your DMV record for 10 years.
