    Two words come to mind:

    extraneous

    irrelevant

.357mag/sig is a very effective round

.45ACP is a TREMENDOUSLY effective round

People are figuring out that the room in the middle isn't worth occupying?

Personally, I have never understood the relevance of this caliber.

People are always buying new and trading old...

But I think people are trading in .40's and going back to 9mms just like SUV's are being traded for smaller cars.

Car and Gun prices have gone up a little each year, but GAS and AMMO prices have really sky rocketed over the last 2 years or so.

Most .45 acp owners are shooting higher dollar 1911's and wont part with them no matter the ammo cost.

Just a trend I see. I may be wrong...

    I with you.

I have quite a few Colt 1911's that I will retire rather than sell or trade if .45 ammo gets too expensive. So far...I'm still feeding them.

Some guys by a .40 for good common sense reasons, but then go on Internet forums and get all pussified when they see somebody with a bigger gun.

The .40 is a great gun but only if you are confident with your manhood.

I wouldn't go that far. It may be your opinion, but that's about it. There are plenty of PD and Government Agencies that use the 40S&W.

Omni, I just think that it's a personal preference as with many things in life. I have owned a few 40s and they are just fine for SD and for plinking. I wouldn't read into it because you see used 40s in gun shops. I see used 9mm and 45s as well and it means that someone wanted to sell his/her pistol.

All handgun rounds are TREMENDOUSLY ineffective. They poke tiny little holes that have to hit the CNS or major blood carrying vessles, and the later doesn't even cause instant incapacitation. 9/40/45/357 are all equally tremendously ineffective.

I think you nailed it. I have two 40s in my safe with plenty of ammo stored. With the price of ammo going thru the roof, I will keep the pistols as long as I have ammo for them.

I just bought the first 9mm pistol I ever owned because it is cheaper to shoot. My 45s still get a work out, but for pleasure shooting, it will be the 9 for the foreseeable future.
