Re: Gun Safes
I have 3. The big one is an AMSEC, will hold 11 rifles, up to 12 handguns and a myriad of knives depending on the shelf spacing. Another is for my ammo, about 18x18x10 and the third is a tall Stack-On model from Wal-Mart which is used to secure firearms that people have ordered and not yet picked up (I need to keep business and personal firearms seperate as much as possible). I have desiccant bags in all and periodically pull them out and rejuvenate them in the oven. All are bolted down.

Re: Gun Safes
I also have an AMSEC. It is a 12 rifle model fire safe and yes it is bolted down and I do use a humidifier. It is called a golden rod, I think, and is as old as the safe and still works fine.
I bought the safe over 10 years ago and the only problem that I had was the electronic lock. It passed away last year and i ordered another newer model keypad. It was so easy to install, all my fears of screwing it up seemed stupid in hindsight.
I chose the key pad over the dial type lock for ease of opening in a hurry.
A word of warning, make sure the floor you are mounting your safe can support the added weight of a loaded safe. The one benefit of owning a small safe is it can be mounted on an upper floor, instead of in the basement or the garage.

Re: Gun Safes
I have a Cabela's hunter green safe that holds 18-22 long guns and I have handgun racks in it for my handguns. It has a electronic keypad lock and I picked it up at the store and drove it home in my pick up, It weighs about 850lbs and
it was if I remember $800.00. But for that size and style you can't touch that price from any other manufactor, I looked at remington, fort knox to name some they all were well over $1,000 easy. And If you get cardboard the safes move with ease to get in in your house and I used a appliance handtruck with the tie down straps to move it.

Re: Gun Safes
I picked up a Champion Challenger 25 Series with a 1200° 30-minute rating. Unfortunately the UL rating on all commercial gun safes are listed as consumer grade storage boxes.
I looked long and hard at all of the major manufactures before choosing before Champion line.
Capacity: 25 long guns
Heat Rating:1200° 30-minute rating
Bolted Down: Yes
Dehumidifier: Golden Rod
I made my own lighting using after X-Mas rope lights and a Radio Shack toggle switch.
Gun room has no windows, double doors, perimeter and motion detectors, smoke and heat alarm, monitored alarm system, land line with cell back up.
Replacement insurance for the works.
However if you want the best in safes, look around for a used jewelry store safe, gut it, and install your own racks.
Example of a safe opened with 3 -4 hits from a sledge hammer.

Re: Gun Safes
I have a GunVault "MultiVault" in the event someone with children stops by.
It's extremely fast to open and can be bolted down if desired. Nice safe for a bedroom handgun(s) for those with small children. I don't think a defense gun should be left unloaded and this safe pretty much eliminates the need to do so while keeping the gun secure AND readily available.
GunVault site for those who may be interested. http://www.gunvault.com/
Oh THIS is my personal FAVORITE!!!
Saw this on another forum I rarely visit since finding PAFOA...
It's a Pepsi Machine made into a gun cabinet (Not really a safe, but who would even know what was inside!)
