10/22 supressor and Iron sights?
I am placing this here due to the supressor. If it needs posted somewhere else let me know.
I am currently kicking around getting a can (no pun intended) to put on my 10/22. I will also be able to use it on my p22. The question is how do you still use iron sights? what kind of set up do I need? Will I need to go with a bull barrel for the suppressor? Any info would help.

Re: 10/22 supressor and Iron sights?
I am pretty sure the Ruger 10/22 has an integrated suppressor/barrel.
And I think that requires replacing the barrel itself.
If you did that, I don't think you can use iron sights. You would have to scope the rifle.
I love the look of the suppressed barrel on the 10/22....Talk about quiet.

Re: 10/22 supressor and Iron sights?
yes. I have seen those.
Those also look bad ass on the mark series pistols.
But you also can get, or do it your self, a threaded barrel to use a "normal" supressor. I agree those supressed barrels look killer. I am wounder if the ar sites that you would use with a variment model would work or if you can machine the stock barrel to slide the sight back and thread the end?
This will be a plus to the ZRT

You can get a threaded barrel with the front site set back, however most just use optics.

I have acess to a lathe. I have run threads and turned down things before. How hard is it to set the site back?

Re: 10/22 supressor and Iron sights?
what you do is cut the barrel right after the front sight unit, then carefully drill the sight out, and either thread it (difficult thread timing) or lathe the barrel down to a diameter where you can press it back on straight.
remember to thread the barrel in relation to the BORE centerline, not the outside diameter.
make sure the suppressor has a nicely defined shoulder to index on.
I myself just use a optic on my threaded barrels for rifles, on pistols, just set the front sight back if you can."Oderint Dum Metuant" - BMFH
