Re: Series 1, 2, and 3 Glock? whats the defference?
If memory serves me correctly.
Series 1 guns only have 2 pins thru the frame. No rails,No finger grooves
Series 2 guns are 3 pin. No rails and very limited finger groove models
Series 3 guns have the finger grooves. Rails and 3 pins.

There are differences in the 3 generations. finger grooves in the grip, texture, accessory rail, small internal changes, etc..

Re: Series 1, 2, and 3 Glock? whats the defference?
Look at the picture in the third post here.
Some people refer to generation 2.5 which has the finger grooves but no light rail. There are many different nuances within the generations depending on full size, compact, and sub-compact. Best example I have is my model 30. It is technically a 3rd gen, but does not have a light rail. The rails were not added for several years so some would call it a 2.5 gen.I think the founding fathers meant exactly what they wrote: the government should not make any laws restricting the RIGHT of the people to 'hold or retain in one's possession' and 'hold or carry' guns and other weapons that would allow them to keep their government in line.

Re: Series 1, 2, and 3 Glock? whats the defference?
There have been may design changes in the Glock, but the frame "generations" are pretty much as Lycan posted.
1. No rail or grooves, old style frame stippling on front strap.
2. no rail or grooves, grenade style checkering or "block checkering"
2.5 no rail, but they had finger grooves.
3. Glock rail and finger grooves.
--------------------------------------------------------------------
Then it all went to hell !!!
3.5??? Glock 30 came out with a rail making it the only sub compact with a rail.
4???? G21 slim frame with the 1913 pic rail.
4.5??? G21 slim frame with Glock rail.
5??? G30 slim frame gun.
---------------------------------------------------------------
In general, there are only 3 frame generations, add for the generation 2.5 guns that were not made in large numbers.
A glock 30 with no rail is considered a 3rd generation gun since no sub compacts had rails at the time.
Only thing more confusing is trying to list all of the internal changes and so called "upgrades".
Shoot the hell out of your new Glock, and enjoy it!

Cool. Thanks guys. As long as changes are mostly cosmetic, I can't careless.
I never like the finger groove on any gun anyhow.
mine is 2nd one. According to Glocktalk's serial number research, mine was produced in Oct 1994
