    Default LTCF County Question

My question may have been answered before, and if so I apologize.

I was in NC last week and stopped at a gun shop to look around.

The shop owner was having a slow day & was happy for some company so we BS'd a while.

He told me that in NC it is recommended that you apply for your permit in the county you live in, but it is not required by law.

He said some people get their permits in other counties out of personal preference or to help the economy in that county.

That got me thinking (not something I do on a regular basis)...

I always thought we in PA have to apply for our permits in the county we live in.

But is it truly required? I guess the main reason I am asking is I have read on this board about the long wait some people experience for their permits. Other counties are very quick to issue a permit.

    Thanks.

Yes, if you're a PA Resident, you must apply in the county in which you live.

    From the UFA:

    (b) Place of application.-An individual who is 21 years of age or older may apply to a sheriff for a license to carry a firearm concealed on or about his person or in a vehicle within this Commonwealth. If the applicant is a resident of this Commonwealth, he shall make appli*cation with the sheriff of the county in which he resides or, if a resident of a city of the first class, with the chief of police of that city.

    Thanks gentlemen!

Again, I always thought that was the case, but never actually read anything on it.
