How long does it take?

Fellas,

How long does it take to get approved for your LTCF in Cumberland? I have been holding off for a while just due to the commute out. I work in Chambersburg and live right on the border of Cumberland.

I am hoping it doesn't take as long as they say

I got mine in about 2-3 weeks.

That sounds about right, I have 2 friends that just got their LCTF's and I think it took about that long. I am due for my first renewal in September, I am anxious to see how long it takes

So... I just got my rejection. They said I failed to pay some kind of tax. I called the tax people and asked them what this is all about and these are the ladies exact words... "People rarely ever know about this tax. The only time they find out is when they put in for their LTCF permit or they apply at the community college".

Obviously im kind of pissed about the whole situation due to the fact that I work in Chambersburg and now have to take off half a day AGAIN just so I can go take care of this stuff.

I wasn't paying that tax either, but the lady I spoke with at the sheriffs office sent me over to the old courthouse before I turned my application in to make sure that I was squared away. Have you tried the sherriffs office to see if you get the tax thing straightend out if the will approve you?

I just got the same thing...says I have 20 days, i guess then I would have to reapply if i dont get it squared away. How much is this and what is it for? I have no clue what it is.

Just out of curiousity... under what authority can one be denied a LTCF for not paying a tax? In my copy of the UFA, that's not a valid reason for a denial.

It didnt say I was denied...mine said I had to call the tax office to clear it up before I could continue and they gave me 20 days to take care of it. I guess if I didnt I would then have to reapply after 20 days it I waited to fix the tax.

Did the letter say that you were denied or that they rejected your application?

IIRC, The deal was they wouldn't process your application unless you were paying the tax, sort of a condition of residency type of deal, "Your not really a resident of our county unless you are paying our taxes"

jb12, he has it right. It wasn't a denial... I just had to take care of the tax for them to continue. I was just pissed due to the fact they didnt say anything about it before-hand and I had to take another morning off of work and drive well out of the way.

Its a big inconvenience.
