Glock 34 - Good first IDPA/USPSA gun?
I'm looking to get started in IDPA and USPSA shooting, and I'm wondering if the Glock 34 would fit the bill as a good pistol to get me started. I've heard it's a real tack driver for a reasonable price and it has a nice 17 round capacity. I'd like to stick with 9mm, since 1. I'm comfortable with it, and 2. The ammo is fairly cheap, and the more I can practice, the better I can do come match day
So, sound off guys. What do you think? Is the Glock 34 a good choice, or is there something else you would recommend, and why?

I still think a used G17 and bunch more ammo is the way to go, but some swear that the G34 is better.
Every couple weeks a question like this comes up on the GlockTalk Competition forum, or the Brian Enos Glock forum.Removed NRA Life Member pic. LaPierre and Chris Cox are ruining NRA.

Don't know about the Glock. Sorry can't help you there.
But whatever gun you use, go with the 9mm. Mainly because of the price of ammo. If you get into it, it can get expensive shooting. And yes, it is addicting, if you have never done it before.
I see all types of guns at the shoots. So, as long as you got a good reliable pistol. You are off and running (literally).
My 2 cents worth. The American Revolution would never have happened with gun control....

The 34 is great for IDPA SSP and USPSA Production. You could shoot USPSA Limited or Limited 10 with it, but 9mm is always scored minor in those divisions.
The G35 would be a better choice....especially if you reload and can load down for Producation or SSP.

I picked up a Glock 35 and picked up a 9mm conversion barrel for it. For about $125.00 + or -, and the cost of a couple of G17 mags, you can have the best of both minor and major power factors

Lycan is right... especially if you happen to have a Bar Sto Match conversion barrel, but it did cost me a few bucks more.
