Louisiana no longer excepts Non res Fl CCW
I got word today at Florida concealed carry,
louisiana will no longer accept Non-resident Florida carry permits, soon this will include Utah non-resident permits. the reason is numerous residents in louisiana are carrying on Non res florida permits instead of Lousiana resident permits.
resident Florida CCW permits are still being honored

Excepts them from what?

LA page confirming...
I read somewhere...that eventually nobody will accept Non-resident licenses....this looks like the start.
I've been debating between sending out FL or VA...now wondering if i do pick, how long will it be good for?Last edited by mrjam2jab; October 19th, 2009 at 02:10 PM.

Re: Louisiana no longer excepts Non res Fl CCW
Could become really painful for us. A lot of states don't recognize PA and don't issue non-resident (Ohio, Delaware, ...), but recognize the common non-resident licenses.
A much less ominous solution: some states have "solved" this "problem" by not honoring non-resident licenses for residents of their own state.

Well technically the FL License does not state "resident" or "non-resident" on it ANYPLACE. It does have an address listed on it but hey I guess that could always be a mailing address ... lots of changes being made, wish they were all for the better! Hell NV dropped FL reciprocity because FL changed from a 5 year license to 7 years ... CRAZY reasoning.

Re: Louisiana no longer excepts Non res Fl CCW
What's printed or not printed on your license has ZERO bearing on the legality of your residence status while holding a non-resident license. In other words, DON'T mess with the law and go into LA just because the FL license doesn't say non-resident on it. I don't condone suggesting doing it then use it an excuse if caught, as you are insinuating.

Re: Louisiana no longer excepts Non res Fl CCW
I could not agree more, you better have alternative ID to back up your carry permit. Also a part-time drivers license doesn't cut it ( in florida snow birds can get a non resident drivers license, "Non-resident" is printed across the top of the license)
so you will need a Driver license or State Id, Florida DMV requires substantial proof of residency for both, not just a mailing address
