Default "Assault weapons" in downtown Trenton, NJ

I went to Trenton the other day to visit the Hessian Barracks and I was mighty surprised to find that there were "assault weapons" all over the place. When I walked into the building there was an individual there who had one slung over his shoulder. I walked into a side room and saw 2 "assault rifles" standing side by side. I then heard a loud BOOM, went outside and saw that the individual that had the one slung over his shoulder had just fired the darn thing, in front of a bunch of schoolkids no less! (sic) What is going on here? Doeen't the NJ Governor and Legislature know this sort of thing is going on right next to the State House? Horrors! I couldn't belive this! Right in downtown Trenton no less.

    The HORROR! Old school oppressors!

Nowadays they unfortunately look like this...

"Disperse you Rebels! Damn you! Throw down your Arms and Disperse!" British Major Pitcairn at Lexington April 19, 1775

"Sometimes reasonable men must do unreasonable things" Marvin Heemeyer

Yep, that's what the guy was wearing, except he didn't have the gold hat on.

Why would they want to dress old school and look silly when they can dress like a mall ninja and look silly?

I haven't been to the Old Barracks in years. I grew up like 10 minutes from there in a neighborhood known as Chambersburg, the Italian section(not anymore, more like little Guatemala and ghetto). I think the last time I was at the Barracks was for a class trip in grammar school and I do remember that they have guards that dress up in revelutionary war era clothing but do not remember them having assault rifles, just regular rifles like in the first pic.

My dad works directly across the street as an accountant for NJ taxation and I'll have to ask him about this.
