Default 100 yard targets for iron sights?

What targets do you guys use when shooting at 100 yards with iron sights?

I tried to use a large silhouette paper target and one that has 5 bullseyes on it, but at 100 yards, all I can see is the paper, not the bullseyes, etc.

If there isn't a target that I can see well, i might as well just post up a blank piece of paper and just aim for that instead of spending money on "fancy" targets.

Try a NRA High Power target - SR1. SR1's are 100 yard targets reduced to simulate 200 yards. These are service rifle competition targets for shooting from standing, sitting, and prone positions with iron sights.

    Quarters.

Ha, but seriously, I like to buy those reactive targets they sell at Walmart and put them on a light colored piece of paper or cardboard, that way I can see what I'm shooting at. If I'm shooting multiple targets I make sure I space them out a good distance so I can tell them apart.

I like the 12" Shoot n See targets. The orange center is easy to see at 100 yds. Also, with a little magnification you can see where you hit, paper usually warrants a walk.

Sorry the picture is crappy, took it with my phone.

Yup, shoot 'n see's are what I was talking about. Couldn't remember the name of them, I usually order them bulk online in all different sizes.

I use recycled reactive targets -- empty 20 oz and 2 ltr soda bottles. They sure react when hit; they do everything from falling over, to spinning, to flying. Cheap, too. And I'm meticulous about picking them up after I'm done.

I also use claybirds standing on edge propped up against a 3"-4" long section of 2x4. That's about 4 MOA, and I usually have no problem hitting that or better at 100 yds with open sights offhand, if the firearm is capable itself.

For open sights, at 100-200 yards I make an upside-down T with electrical tape on white paper.

What part of the "T" do you aim for? I've been curious about trying non-standard targets with irons at those ranges. I had been thinking that an upside down triangle might be easy to 'balance' on the front sight.

I suppose a circle is still the easiest shape to bisect in either direction.

Bottom edge. Vertical line aids centering. Remember, *upside-down* T
