Help with home range construction
Also posted in my home region, but there are some counties in LV region that are just as close....
Is there anyone local to the Kutztown/Topton area that has equipment to move dirt and rock. I am not talking about a hand shovel, more so backhoes, excavators or bulldozers.
The pistol/22 range needs more material on top of the berm thats there now so I can put the targets up higher. Id like to also construct some sides. Perhaps a U shape.
The rifle range is at 0% complete. I have a spot picked out and already ranged for 100y, but there is too much rock at the site of where Id like to put the targets. Unsure how big the rocks are as they go back into the hillside.
So, anyone have access or own some larger equipment to move earth and rock that would lend a hand with some range construction and range testing? More than willing to pay fuel/reasonable costs for assistance. I already got a "rough estimate" from a local landscaping company.....and it was a bit more than I expected just to build out the existing berm at the pistol/22 range.
Rock sprayed red. Tree marking was just to help locate from distance.

Can't help ya with the earth moving, but I know a place to get railroad ties for $14each if you want to make sides.

Re: Help with home range construction
You are probably best looking at a rental place such as Total Rental for that specialized equipment. I grew up working on a farm and they have the equipment, but they are too far away from you.
You are living the dream to be able to have a range on your property.

Rocks like that are usually at least 5x bigger underground in my experience.

Re: Help with home range construction
We've got a rental place out this way that does mini excavators and 100 series Deere backhoes for about $250 a weekend, delivered Friday & picked up Monday. I can't imagine you couldn't get all your earthmoving done in a weekend with a buddy or two. If I was a bit closer I would offer to bring some farm equipment, but that's a bit of a haul to pull that weight.
