Magpul to make steel BUIS
I feel like they should've done this a while ago.

Re: Magpul to make steel BUIS
Hmm. Not bad. The rear sight is kinda funky.
I'm a fan of Magpul, just not their sights.FOAC Member, NRA Member

Probably be just as crappy as their plastic ones.

Re: Magpul to make steel BUIS
I don't know about crappy. I have the Magpul Gen 2 MBUS rear sight on my Magpul edition Colt M4/LE6920, and it works well, even for a primary. While I do have the rife scoped, it is nice to pop the scope off with its quick release mount and practice with the irons.
Glocks and many if not most other pistols made today are plastic, so why not the sights?

Re: Magpul to make steel BUIS
The hinge pins on mine like to slide out.
The overall quality is just shitty IMO considering for a few more bucks a good set of metal sights can be had.
They would be good sights if they cost $20 because then you'd only expect $20 worth of performance.

Re: Magpul to make steel BUIS
I recall someone doing drop tests with a bunch of BUIS. The magpul ones did pretty well, better than most of the steel ones.
Just because a sight is steel (and expensive) doesn't necessarily mean it's better.
Just sayin'

Re: Magpul to make steel BUIS
I've never had an issue with my Gen 2 MBUS, including the sliding pins you mentioned later. I've also had my front one mounted on my gas block (prior to getting the extended Troy rail I have now) and never had an issue with the heat melting the polymer.
I will definitely be getting a set of these, since they look better than the polymer ones.
