I believe if they fail to get back to you within the alloted time you are automatically considered to have passed. This was added to prevent minorities and other "undesirables" from not getting an LTCF by just ignoring their requests.

(This is not legal consul and it may not be 100% true)

I would reccomend going to the sherrifs departments website. If you don't hear back in 2 days, respectfully asking why you haven't heard would be what I would do. People fall throught the cracks in the system all the time.

Not even 1% true. There is no such provision in the law.

OP, wait until the full 45 days have passed, then call to inquire. Make sure you are prepared with pen and pad, and make sure you get the name of whoever you speak to.

Being "busy" is not an excuse for breaking the law.

    Hey Bender,

I walked into the York County Sheriffs office on Friday a week and a half ago to submit my application and then walked out with my LTCF approximately 15 minutes later - my wife too.

Why is it that some counties process permits immediately and others (ie Cumberland) always take 2 weeks? Shouldn't all counties in the state handle the apps the same way? It's pretty darn inconvenient having to run to the county courthouse twice during business hours for a permit, especially if it could be done in one trip.

Thats funny I thought you were talking about some of the online gun dealers. They never respond either!
