Penn Hills Student With Eyebrow Trimmer Suspended

PENN HILLS (KDKA) ― A Penn Hills Middle School student has been suspended for bringing an eyebrow trimmer to school.

Under the Safe School Act, the district says the instrument is a razor and is considered dangerous.

They suspended 15-year-old Taylor Ray-Jetter.

The instrument was taken from Taylor's purse at school by security guards. She told them it was harmless but they called it a weapon.

Taylor was immediately suspended and was expelled Wednesday.

The punishment has her worried about her future.

"I want to be an anesthesiologist –a nurse anesthetist and I feel like it's going to be on my record so it's going to dampen a lot of things I wanted to do for myself and I'm very upset," she said. "I did not come up there to hurt anybody."

Taylor is a member of the basketball team, 9-year Girl Scout, a youth usher, a member of the choir and leadership team, among other activities.

That's total crap.
Nobody does diddly about the actual friggin' criminals in the school, but they'll expel a seemingly decent kid for a beauty tool? WTF?

Heck, my daughter was suspended for three days because she told someone that she was a good shot. No one involved in the conversation felt threatened but an adult nearby thought that they "could have felt threatened."

There have been some insane expulsions over these silly rules.

There was a girl in Michigan who was expelled because she brought a plastic picnic knife to school to cut a birtday cake.

There was a girl who brought a knife to school to cut her lunch up and ASKED if she was allowed to have it. Instead of saying no but we'll keep it until you go home, they went ballistic she was suspended.

My son's elementary school was locked down and the police were called because a kid, going to a friends house after school had brought a brightly colored plastic toy gun to school. The administration said, "we can't expect our teachers to tell real guns from toy guns."

Remember those cheap charms in gumball machines? Know the ones that look like a six shooter? About an inch long, right? A kid found one on the way to school and when it was discovered the police were called. See above for the administrations official answer.

Of course all of these rules kept that teacher in Florida from getting shot by a student back in 2000.

when i saw the story on tv i thought it was funny how the girl was running it across her hand trying to cut herself and the shaver didn't even leave a mark.

you know, since that can be considered a weapon and grounds for expulsion, they should probably expel everyone who uses a pencil or a pen, since those, according to their rules could be used as a weapon...pencil to the jugular anyone? hell, while your at it, better get rid of backpack straps too since you could probably choke somebody with them if you wanted to. lets see, lunch trays, desk drawers, filing cabinets, anything with a corner. better do away with the chemistry lab, and biology class since you have to use scalpels to dissect things, and Bunsen burners, chemicals and glass beakers.

this zero tolerance and people who jump at the sight of their shadow need to go play in traffic, preferably rush hour. it's a shame that these people are turning this once great country into a nation of sheepwieners.
