Default Scared Sheeple at the bank today.

I just got back from the bank from making a deposit. When I walked in, I was open carrying my Kimber Pro Carry that I just installed a nice set of bright white checkered buffalo bone grips on yesterday. Off to the side is a couple waiting to be seen by one of the bank associates. I walk up to the small desk where you fill out your deposit slips and start doing my paperwork. I hear over my shoulder the woman of the couple gasp and next thing I know she is flying out the door like she had a rocket strapped to her ass. He husband or boyfriend was still sitting there and the bank associate came over just then and asked where his significant other was by name. The man told the bank associate that she just left and he didn't know why anyone would carry a gun into a bank. The bank associate then said to the man that she didn't see a problem with it as long as it wasn't concealed or anything. Yeah...I know...some people just have poor misconceptions of right and wrong.

Anyway, there wasn't any line at the bank, so I made my deposit and was out of there in a couple of minutes. Walking out, there was the couple standing outside on the sidewalk. Instead of the panicked reaction I was expecting to see from this woman, she is showing another girl out on the street her engagement ring.

I can understand some people being afraid of guns just like some people are afraid of clowns, but this was just a little strange for me to wrap my understanding of human behavior around.

I started open carrying a few days after getting my license because my IWB holster was digging into my hip and I was developing a sore spot after driving for extended periods of time. Never really had a reaction except for one comment that someone made because I had two extra mags on my belt (single stack 1911) to which he asked me if I though I had enough "clips".

I am guessing the bright white grips make my gun more intimidating than the stock black rubber double diamonds did.

I guess when you were outside of the bank, you and your gun were much less scary. I know when I am around large amounts of money I have to work real hard to keep from shooting things.

That's very possible. If she truly had that reaction due to the sight of a firearm, then there is something wrong with her.

Don't everybody jump on me at once but I didn't think you were allowed to carry in a bank?

If you can carry in a bank then where can't you carry? Somebody just recently informed me that I can request a lock box for my gun when I go to the city-county building.

Why wouldn't you be allowed to carry in a bank?
Where can't you carry? Well, with a LTCF there are very few places you cannot carry.

The only places off-limits in Pa are:

Off-limits places in PA and what makes them off-limits:

    1. Court Facilities - PA Title 18, Chapter 9, Subsection 913
    2. Grounds and buildings of Elementary and Secondary schools (K-12 grades), whether the school is private or public. There is an affirmative defense for "other lawful purposes" however there is no case law determining on what that includes. To be safe, its wiser to assume it does not include our carrying "rights". - PA Title 18, Chapter 9, Subsection 912
    3. Casinos - by regulation Title 58, Part VII, Chapter 465, Subsection 465a.13
    4. Certain Department of State buildings - by regulation
    5. Places off-limits by Federal Law or regulation, IE: military installations(exceptions for hunting at some bases), Federal Government buildings, after the security check point in airports, etc.
    6. Any private property where a landowner, tenant or person so authorized to maintain property has asked you to leave because you are carrying, or where the property owner or tenant has placed signs or placards denoting that guns are forbidden - Title 18, Chapter 35, Subsection 3503
    7. Detention facilities, correctional institutes, or mental hospitals - Title 18, Chapter 51, Subsection 5122
