Default When may a business owner shoot to protect property?

I light of the recent riots in California (again) I would like to know, at what point may a business owner protect his livelihood with a firearm?

I remember the videos of the Koreans on the roof of their business with rifles. Is is justified to shoot the rioters and vandals?

Assume that you may never use deadly force to protect property.

On the other hand, when you're INSIDE that property (or on top of it), the line between "protecting property" and "protecting the human beings inside that property" can give your defense attorney plenty to work with, as long as you keep your damn mouth shut.

    This^

Many times, as a riot crowd gains momentum, it also becomes more uncontrollable and deadly. Most often, in larger riots, stores are broken into, and people are beaten/killed. If you are in your store when a group breaks into the building, and is coming at you as a threat (this obviously depends on the personal determination for each specific instance), and you defend yourself, there is a good chance it would be deemed justified(assuming you were threatened)

As far as standing on top of the roof picking people off... no.

It's the average "use of force for protection" sentiment, only on a bit different level. Make sure your life is in danger before using defense.

    IANAL by any means.

Based on these responses I wrongly assumed Penna. had a defense of property statute. Does Penna. have a Castle Doctrine in effect?

Uh, yes, PA does have Castle Doctrine. Admittedly, there is lot of confusion about Castle Doctrine because far too my people misunderstand what it is.

    ^Exactly.

I have a unicorn. Well, it's a horse that I strapped a Styrofoam cup to its forehead, but I call it a unicorn!

The government CANNOT tell you when to defend yourself! Give me a break! If you feel your life is in danger, POP that SOB in the forehead.
