Re: pistol cal carbine
I've owned 3 types:
Feather industries AT-9(jammed alot!!!)
RRA AR-15 in 9MM(awesome gun but expensive)
MY PICK: Beretta CX4 storm in 9mm just buy the one that uses the 92 pistol mags. They aren't that expensive and are really fun to shot and many cool accessories can be had. Like rails, barrel shrouds and forward grips. In their hearts humans plan their course, but the LORD establishes their steps.

Re: pistol cal carbine
I have a Ruger PC-9, uses the standard Ruger pistol mags which is a plus.
I like it, pretty accurate too, I think the trigger pull is bad, it is a little heavy for a carbine but it is a fun plinker, never a failure or problem with it so far (had it 8 years now).
My daughter has pretty much adopted this as one of "hers"...the .22's don't "bang and boom" enough for her (her words)
If you CCW, I would recommend something compatible to what you are carrying , 9mm, .40, .45 etc..."Disperse you Rebels! Damn you! Throw down your Arms and Disperse!" British Major Pitcairn at Lexington April 19, 1775

Re: pistol cal carbine
I have or have had several.
I use 9mm kits on my m16 and AR-15 SBR, and they work great, ones a colt, the other 2 are Oly Arms.
for a standard pistol cal carbine, I had a Keltec Sub2K, 9mm, used S&W mags.
It worked flawlessly for several thousand rounds, but i sold it.
the folding thing is great, you can use it folded of course, it just makes it smaller for transport.
I dont think you'd go wrong with a Keltec S2K."Oderint Dum Metuant" - BMFH

Re: pistol cal carbine
I've had the Kel-Tec Sub-2000 for approximately a year. Love it. Never gave me any trouble, for the rare FTE when it was brand new. Breaking it in and a thorough cleaning solved that.

Re: pistol cal carbine
any of you guys have scopes on the kel-tec? i was looking and saw they have a spring loaded one that moves to the side when you fold it. anyone know how good that keeps a zero?

Re: pistol cal carbine
From what I hear (being that I do not use one myself), the folding scope mount isn't exactly perfect. I believe that they've been discussed in the following two forums (both being good sources of information on these models):

Re: pistol cal carbine
just use the sights, they work fine.
Its a pistol cal carbine, not a precision long range rifle
yes, the folding scope mount sucks."Oderint Dum Metuant" - BMFH

Re: pistol cal carbine
so what would a used CX4 go for? i saw one a while back in the classifieds that was going for 475 i think but then i saw a new one in there that just went for like 700 i think. if i could get the money i would love to have a CX4. but i dont think i can gather more then 500 and thats pushing it. i dont think i would be dissapointed with a sub 2k though. i do want to put some sort of optics on the gun and im not sure i would beable to reliably install something on the keltec
