Night and Day scope?
Anyone run into a scope that can be used as a 'night vision' scope and also used during the day? I do wdc work that occasionally requires taking deer at night and during the day in urban environments and I would like to be able to use the same rifle (I have a .308 bolt action or AR type that I'd like to mount it on). Distances are under 50 yds. shooing subsonic loads with silencer.
Thanks!in dei gloriam

PVS-22 but hold onto you wallet, you can also get the gen 3 scopes with a lens cover and use it that way. Or use a pvs-14 with aimpoint or eotech since the max range is 50 yards

Re: Night and Day scope?
Using Image Intensifier night vision (NV) during the day outdoors is generally not possible with few exceptions, even with the "daylight filter." You will end up damaging your NV. There are dedicated scope systems that consist of a daylight optical scope and a NV attachment but they are very expensive and not necessary for under 50 yards.
My advice would be to get a reflex sight such as Comp M2 or M4 that has night vision settings for the dot brightness. Mount it on a rail, sight it in, and then mount a NV device behind it at night. Or, just look through it at night with a head-mounted NV goggle - this can be tricky depending on the goggle and the scope mount.
You could also try to switch between a day scope and a NV scope if you find your point of impact doesn't shift much when removing and replacing the scope from a rail.
Finally, you could just have a day scope but use a near-IR laser at night with an NV goggle.

Re: Night and Day scope?
You might try a Nightforce scope. Haven't used them yet but I have one on order. The military uses them for sniper scopes. Just a *plain* scope, ie, no nightvision stuff, but they really gather the light and you should be able to see a target easy at 50 yds at night. They are the best.

Sounds like you could use a thermal device.

I think there are civilian models available, but the ones I've seen start around $10k.

I suggest heat seeking missiles.
