Question Speer Lawman Ammunition 45 ACP 185 - is this a good buy?

    $288 for a case of 1,000

    http://www.midwayusa.com/eproductpag...eitemid=494482

Looks to be a good buy. Is this decent practice ammo? If so, anyone in the greater York, PA or Lancaster, PA area interested in a splitting a case?

Don't think my wife will let me buy an entire case. But I could probably come home with half a case and be okay.

Case of ammo + $10.00 worth of flowers = everyone is happy....

I reload my own, but does that include hazmat + shipping????

    $288 + $34 S&H = $322

    Is that a good deal?

    Is it a decent brand?

This compares to my current practice round, a box of 100 Winchester for $30+ at Walmart.

Dick's has 45ACP for sale for $149.80 + tax for 500 rds. These are usually Rem UMC 230 gr I believe.

That works out to $318 for a thousand rounds. A bit less than the midway deal. But which is the better ammo?

I have some of the UMC. I want to try the Speer 185 gr. so I ordered a case. I had a $15.00 off coupon code from a Midway e-mail. Try it & it will probably work for you. Code is WEB20088.

Use my inflation fighting plan at Dick's. Find a store that is out of stock and get a few rainchecks. They never call you to say they are back in. You can redeem them in 6-9 months when prices are $5 a box higher and get a good deal. I just used one last month from last year and paid $11.99 a box instead of $20. If prices don't go up (in my dreamland), you don't need to redeem them.
    Et Tu, Brute?

Depends on what your purpose is....if you wanna refine your shooting technique, put rounds down the barrel AND have an enjoyable(ie-still use your right hand at the end of the day...) time, I'd go w/ the 185 grainers. If you just want to sling lead at a barn door and don't care about your form, what your groups look like(why bother shooting at all then ?) and have incredible wrist strength/durability, pick up the 230 grainers. Seeing as how they are both reloadable brass and blah blah blah, the deciding factor really seems to come down to whether or not you wanna run 1000 full power loads thru your .45 or some milder, softer rounds to make you a better shot. I know which weight I ENJOY shooting more of

My Springer GI likes Lawman better...the only time it hiccuped was on UMC. I like UMC in .223, but the batch of .45 rounds I got weren't uniform and were badly manufactured.

Looks like the deal is over. I should have jumped on it. Guess it'll be Winchester ammo for me for a while.
