Good electronic hearing protection
I am curious to what everyone uses and their experiences with them.
I know I want an electronic ear protection, its just a matter of manufacturer and model.
I like low profile designs.

MSA Sordin Supreme Pro X - Neckband
I've got a huge gourd (wear a size 8 fitted hat) and these are super comfortable, they also do work extremely well under helmets

Re: Good electronic hearing protection
That's what I have and I like them, no complaints whatsoever.
My dad swears by Peltor Tactical 7, and no other model of Peltor or other brand. I'll admit they do seem to be better than mine, but for the money difference I don't think it's worth it. They are the best I've ever owned and second best that I've tried.
He's had his for many years, they can still be found if you look hard enough and don't mind spending around $100.00 or maybe a little more.
A lot of his friends have different models and different brands, those who didn't like theirs and tried his and promptly started looking for the Peltor Tactical 7. Some that are on the market aren't worth buying. Give this thread a chance, maybe people will start chiming in with brands and models that they don't like.
I helped find a few Tactical 7s on eBay and Amazon for some of my dad's friends and everyone is very happy with them. I honestly don't know what they had that they were dissatisfied with or I'd post the names.
I'll stick with my cheapies as shown above, they do work great and I can't believe how long the batteries last..
I don't have a short temper, I just have a quick reaction to bullshit.

Re: Good electronic hearing protection
+1 for Sordin's, well made and fit great. Downside is they are pretty expensive, but being deaf is unacceptable to me. I use them while shooting, chainsawing, and during demolition ops. Mine are stereo mic'd and my dad uses them for hunting sometimes too, had mine for 4 years still never changed the batteries.

Re: Good electronic hearing protection
From the pictures on the web, the Tac 7 looks quite a bit bigger than the Tac 6 model (which I own).
I've only been to the range 3 or 4 times with them so far, but they seem to work great (and are still on the same set of batteries).
If I happen to be in a tight enclosed space (i.e. an inside range with cement walls bouncing back the sound), I'll put a pair of the $1 foam plugs in my ears as well (under the Peltors) and still be able to hear people talk around me, but be totally protected from anything damaging my hearing.

Re: Good electronic hearing protection
I've recently become sick of earplugs so I'm thinking about these-
http://www.midwayusa.com/product/671...rr-22-db-green ,only $60 and some excellent reviews.
Heres the MSA/sordins at Midway-
http://www.midwayusa.com/product/720...rr-18-db-black ,more power to anyone who has $300 to spend on some muffs but I think I'll pass. Not to mention, some of the reviews seem pretty negative. I'd be pissed if I dropped that much coin and they took a shit after a little over a year. I dont really see what they do any better than the $60 Howard Leight muffs either, other than battery life

Re: Good electronic hearing protection
Although I noticed you wanted electronic hearing protection............I have a set of these.
Mine can be adjusted and at the range mine are set to 160-170db and all I hear while wearing these is a soft pop. I had them custom made in 1996 and they were (if memory serves me correct) around $1500. Back then it was considered as a big invention but now you can buy them for a couple hundred bucks. You can only get smarter by playing a smarter opponent
