Default Anyone going shooting on MLK Day?

No better way to celebrate a national holiday... Oh, and if anyone is going to PMSC I'd love to invite myself as a guest (Gotta get out there and join soon)

So anyone else going out Monday?

I work for UPMC and we get very few holidays, not even the day after thanksgiving. But for some reason we get MLK day off. We don't get Presidents day, or even Christmas Eve, but MLK was so much more importaint than any president...

I'm sure it has something to do with communism but I can't prove it.

Yeah I love the fact that MLK is a day off for me, but never Veteran's Day. (although it WAS a Sunday this year)...I don't mean to diminished what he did for racial equality, but without the veteran's there may never have been a country for him to voice his preachings in.

    National Holidays are bullshit.

"Gee, let's honor [insert cause] by paying Gov't employee's to not work and we'll do it by taking money from the people that do have to work. Tee Hee."

IMO, Gov't employee's shouldn't get paid holidays. Paid time off is fine with me but not both. Not to mention the amount of damage inflicted by Gov't employee's taking time off. The mail is delayed for an entire day and then the residual slow-down afterwards. These days, almost everything rely's on Gov't approval or service so it's really a major downer to the economy. I say give people a fixed number of PTO days and let them decide when they need a holiday. At least then you'd only see significant slowing around major holidays like Thanksgiving and Christmas.

/Not meant to demean MLK. He was a noble man. It's the Socialist scumbags that rose from his shadow to demand hand-outs in his name that insult his legacy (i.e. Jackson, Sharpton).
