Schuylkill River Trail OC/CC/NC bike ride Saturday 1 Aug
reading this thread over in Politics/PA
http://forum.pafoa.org/pennsylvania-...ail-fears.html
the MontCo Sheriff says that no guns are allowed in Montgomery Co parks, including the Schuylkill River Trail. Would anyone like to join me on the Schuylkill River Trail for a 10 mile or so bike ride?
I was considering doing it Saturday, 1 August. Sunday i am at a USPSA shoot, so not possible then. My thought was to start at #4 on this map
http://www.schuylkillriver.org/trail...chInterior.pdf
and continue to #8, turn around and come back. that's about 10.5 miles total and we start and end in a park that appears (Google Maps) to have lots of parking. this route stays out of Philly, and also out of Valley Forge.
As always, this is my idea and is not associated with PAFOA in any way.Last edited by sdsorrentino; July 31st, 2009 at 05:58 PM.

Re: OC/CC/NC Bike ride in Montgomery Co?
Time--10 am
Place--Spring Mill Park
Plan---we will ride for about 5 miles out and then back to Spring Mill Park.
(for an address of the park use 1201 E Hector St, Conshohocken, PA 19428-2369)
http://maps.google.com/maps?f=q&sour...8&z=13&iwloc=A
I will OC. anyone else who wants to OC or CC, that's fine. I will have copies of the PA Open Carry flier to hand out. Ehidle will be bringing some pocket constitutions.
We'll be riding relatively slowly, so don't worry that we will run off and leave you alone.Last edited by sdsorrentino; July 31st, 2009 at 06:01 PM.

Read this link
I urge each and every one of you to contact the Honorable Bruce Castor, County Commissioner
http://sheriff.montcopa.org/sheriff/...a=1683&q=71877Laws that forbid the carrying of arms ... disarm only those who are neither inclined nor determined to commit crimes. ... Such laws make things worse for the assaulted and better for the assailants; they serve rather to encourage than to prevent homicides, for an unarmed man may be attacked with greater confidence than an armed man." Re: OC/CC/NC Bike ride in Montgomery Co?
Saturday is perfect for me if it's in the morning. I'll be the non-carry person since I cannot practically carry on my bike while in proper uniform anyway.
Let me know what time you will be at Spring Mill and I will be there.
Please see my post here for relevant contact info:

The weather report for that area tomorrow is 89F and partly cloudy, so come out and enjoy a ride with us.

Re: Schuylkill River Trail OC/CC/NC bike ride Saturday 1 Aug
sorry. i didn't get any response from anyone but ehidle, so we went a bit early. i saw one motorcycle cop and at least 2 bicycle cops, and they didn't appear to notice.
we had a good ride and got to see where the shooting happened behind Mittal Steel. That area is a death trap. there's nowhere to run if you are under attack. the area is about 20-30 feet wide bounded by a chain link fence and trees. if two guys kick you off your bike there, you haven't got a chance.
here's a picture of me at the sign in case some Sheriff or other is monitoring me on the email.Last edited by sdsorrentino; August 1st, 2009 at 02:22 PM.
